Brainstorming on research & rare cancers

October 27, 2025

Last week, EURACAN held a high-level brainstorming session that brought together leading European experts to exchange ideas and define strategic directions for advancing care and research in rare cancers.

The meeting fostered in-depth discussions across several priority areas:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): exploring its role in improving diagnosis, decision support, and research integration.
  • Clinical and Translational Research: bridging innovation with patient care to accelerate the development of effective therapies.
  • Data Research: enhancing data sharing, quality, and interoperability to strengthen evidence generation.
  • Development of Guidelines – Expert vs. Evidence: examining the balance between expert consensus and data-driven recommendations.
  • Funding Opportunities, Partnerships, and Policies: identifying mechanisms to support sustainable collaboration across Europe.
  • Rare Cancer Forum: reinforcing exchange and multi-stakeholder engagement.

The session underscored EURACAN’s commitment to fostering collaboration and innovation in the field of rare cancers. By bringing together multidisciplinary expertise from across Europe, EURACAN continues to strengthen the collective effort to improve outcomes for patients with rare cancers.
